This project involves upgrading the 122 km long Merille River to Marsabit Road (A2) from an existing gravel standard to international standard bituminous paved road. The project is financed by the European Union and is part of the Mombasa – Addis Ababa International Trunk Road.

Design Review and Construction Supervision of the Rehabilitation of Merille River to Marsabit Road

- Detailed Design for 10 new bridges and for 6 km of Marsabit Town Roads
- Employer’s Representative to ensure that the constructed works complied with the Specifications and that payment requests by the contractor were certified
- Monitoring of road safety and HIV/AIDS Awareness campaigns
- Monitoring implementation of the Contractor’s Occupational Safety and Health Plan and Environmental Management Plan
- Socio-economic Impact Assessment study
- Environmental Impact Assessment study to obtain NEMA license
- At the EU’s request, ensured that the Contractor employed and trained local personnel especially women in order to improve their socio-economic status
- Monitoring of land compensation by the Client under the approved RAP
