The objective of this project is to promote sustainable mobility along the Tanga-Arusha-Musoma corridor with the construction of a new standard gauge railway line from Arusha to Musoma (approx. 600 km), thereby providing a link to Musoma and Uganda from the Tanga/ Mwambani – Arusha railway section. The project will increase the freight and passenger transport quality and capacity and bring them to AREMA standards (which promotes inter-operability), allowing for increased speed of 120 km/h for passenger trains and 80 km/h for freight trains.
